"Taking Mental Health to the Streets"

Rebecca Blamo's initiative brings hope to many on the street in Monrovia, Liberia. On April 14th, we visited Duport Road Junction and ELWA Market. On April 16th, we took to the streets of Redlight Market, highlighting mental issues, normalising talks around mental health issues, and challenging stigmas. We aim to continue on the 21st of April at Waterside Market and Kakata on the 22nd of April, enhancing conversations around trauma and mental health issues through engaging conversations and distributing understanding and informative leaflets. We are determined to confront the stigma surrounding mental health in Liberia by bringing awareness to the everyday people within the communities, streets, and marketplaces.  The key objectives of this campaign are to normalise mental health discussions, provide accessible information and engage communities directly.

End-of-Year Mental Health Awareness Football Tournament

On December 14th, we hosted a mental health awareness football tournament in Monrovia, Liberia. The winner took home a trophy and prize money.

Mrs Shereena Coleman, a qualified and trained psychology practitioner, spoke on trauma and related mental health issues.

Recorded jingles of mental health messages were played throughout the games with the distribution of leaflets.

News: Volunteers and Staff Training

We recently conducted our team's first training session. In the weeks that followed, we distributed over 5,000 leaflets and flyers to raise awareness about mental health issues and engage with people in local communities to understand their knowledge and attitudes towards mental health.

Your donation is crucial in supporting the hardworking individuals who have been contributing tirelessly. In Liberia, the minimum wage for a day's work is USD 5.00, approximately £4.50. Your support will not only enable us to continue raising mental health awareness and providing access to adequate information but also directly impact the lives of these individuals.
